The Saudi Triathlon Federation has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), marking one of the most significant milestones in the development of the sport within the Kingdom. The signing ceremony took place at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Olympic Complex in Riyadh, in the presence of His Highness Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, President of the Asian Triathlon Confederation; Mr. Antonio Arimany, President of World Triathlon; and Mr. Mishal Al-Sulaiman, President of the Saudi Triathlon Federation.

The agreement aims to establish a comprehensive framework for advancing the sport of triathlon—starting with expanding the grassroots base, developing a new generation of athletes capable of competing at the global level, and promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles across all regions of the Kingdom.

The MoU outlines broad areas of collaboration, including hosting major international events—most notably the T100 Triathlon World Tour—launching a Saudi national triathlon championship, and developing talent pathways for Saudi athletes in cooperation with leading global professionals.

The partnership also includes joint plans to create high-quality media and marketing content, secure a local broadcast partner for event coverage, support sports development programs, and provide specialized training for technical staff and volunteers, strengthening the sector’s readiness to host major sporting events.

Mr. Mishal Al-Sulaiman, President of the Saudi Triathlon Federation, affirmed that the agreement represents a pivotal step in elevating the sport within the Kingdom, noting that it will create transformative opportunities for athletes and enhance Saudi Arabia’s presence on the global triathlon stage.

For his part, Mr. Antonio Arimany, President of World Triathlon, praised the partnership, emphasizing that it aligns with the federation’s vision to expand the sport’s global reach. He highlighted the Kingdom’s strong capabilities in hosting world-class international events.

Sam Renouf, CEO of the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), stated that the collaboration will attract the world’s top professionals and inspire the next generation of athletes, announcing that the first event in Saudi Arabia will be held in Jeddah in 2026.
